I must have shut down Vista before the updates had a chance to fully complete the process. It is now going through a very l-o-n-g process of checking the updates already installed on my Vista against the Windows download site. It is also rebuilding the "SoftwareDistribution" folder. I tried all the three solutions but none worked for my HP pavilion g6 notebook. I noticed that there is no "windows update"...
